Die algemene jaarvergadering van die Pearly Beach Bewarea vind op Vrydag 18 Desember 2015 om 10:00 in die NG Kerk in Pearly Beach plaas. Dit is die een geleentheid in die jaar waar lede en besoekers kans kry om mekaar beter te leer ken, meer van die Bewarea en sy aktiwiteite te wete te kom, en om voorstelle en insette in die werksaamhede van die Bewarea op die tafel te plaas. Die verslag van die voorsitter, asook die finansiële verslag, sal voorgelê word en die vasstelling van ledegeld, asook die verkiesing van die bestuurskomitee sal behandel word. En dan soos gebruiklik, is ‘n gasspreker uitgenooi om die vergadering toe te spreek. Vanjaar sal dit Dave and Sue Whitelaw wees.  Alle belangstellendes word hiermee uitgenooi om die vergadering by te woon. The annual general meeting of the Pearly Beach Conservancy will take place on Friday 18 December 2015 at 10:00 in the NG Church in Pearly Beach. This is the one event of the year where members and visitors can get to know each other better, can learn more about the Conservancy and its activities, and can submit proposals and inputs on how the Conservancy can improve its operations. Die chair’s report and financial report will be tabled, the membership fees need to be determined and the election of the management committee will be dealt with. 

And then, as usual, a guest speaker has been invited to address the meeting. This year it will be Dave and Sue Whitelaw. All interested parties are invited to attend. The craft market of the Conservancy will be held on Saturday 19 December 2015 at 09:00 at the Herbarium. Please contact Beatrice Bollman at 028 381 9657 to book a table. Dave and Sue Whitelaw live double lives, working part-time in Cape Town as doctors and retreating to Kleynhagelkraal every month to pursue their interests as amateur naturalists. They own a 28 hectare piece of Kleynhagelkraal, Kleine Perle, adjacent to Kleynkloof, the Ravenscrofts’ private nature reserve. In February 2015 Cape Nature declared the 2 properties a contract nature reserve, under the name Kleynhagelkraal Cluster. Dave has a long history of engagement with bird conservation in the Western Cape and Sue has had a life-long interest in plants. For 7 years, they have explored and recorded the remarkably diverse plant and animal life of the Pearly Beach area, repeatedly challenged by the identification process.  An additional interest is the impact of fire on fynbos and they have been involved in the monitoring process at 2 sites, following Overberg fires in 2009 and 2015.
