The Overstrand is an outdoor playground to visitors this time of year and forms a delightful destination to young and old.

The Colonial magnetism of Stanford with its free flowing Klein River which edges up its banks, hugged by the Klein Rivier Mountains  invites you to linger between the pink confetti of oxalis on the perfectly preserved Market Square in the centre of town.

Some find holistic well-being by the sweet smell of fresh air, some spend their time with horses, some prefer educational tours of the big cat sanctuary where these majestic animals teach visitors a few lessons of compassion and gentleness.

A walk to the nearby waterfall offers a communion with nature that is often forgotten. 

The walking routes around Stanford are magnificent at the moment with the pincushions being in full bloom.

A bit further along the coast at Walker Bay, whales, calves and dolphins play and cruise in the safe, blue waters. Watch them from the beach at Die Plaat, the cliffs at De Kelders or from the air.

Along the route Spring is celebrated with wine tasting, music, excellent  food and after a day of abundant country pleasure, visitors can choose between cute heritage houses, uninterrupted views at elegant guest houses or charming farm houses and little cottages off the grid.
