Municipal elections will take place in South Africa in 2016 and all those who intend to vote should ensure that they are registered in the area that they will be voting.

All Franskraal residents need to re-register. The reason being that the demarcation board has changed the borders of the various wards and Kleinbaai and Klipfontein 2  now fall into Ward 2 and no longer Ward 1. Van Dyk street forms the border line and so all residents residing above Van Dyk street (to the Northwest) are now divided into Ward 2 and those below van Dyk street (South east side) now fall into Ward 1.

Franskraal and Klipfontein 1 stay in Ward 1 but they will be voting at a new venue, namely the clubhouse at the Bowling club. When registering each voter is issued a unique number, attached to the relevant voting station. For this reason then these voters now need a new number and  have to re-register.

In order to cause as little inconvenience as possible the Voting commission has the following arrangements in place.

 – ESPECIALLY FOR FRANSKRAAL RESIDENTS

· Special information flyers will be handed out on the 2nd of December – giving important registration information

· 3rd /4th/ /5th December – special registration takes place at the Gansbaai Municipal offices from 12h00 to 17h00  REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR ID BOOK

There will be another 2 opportunities to register after that for all voters (Franskraal voters included) as there will be a general registration weekend during the 1st weekend in February and again during the first weekend in March 2016.

During these two weekends all voters who need to register can do so.

If there is any uncertainty as to whether you are registered at the correct location you can sms your ID number to 32810 and you will immediately receive a return sms telling you where you are registered to vote. If this is not where you need to vote then you need to re-register
