Gansbaai Courant het heelwat klagtes van padgebruikers ontvang dat die R43-pad tussen Stanford en Gansbaai onveilig is.
On Thursday, 30 June 2016 K9 unit members received information regarding a silver Jeep suspected to be transporting abalone from Hermanus to Cape Town. The vehicle was spotted on the R43 onramp to the N2 direction Cape Town and was ordered to pull over which was ignored. The suspects then collided with a police vehicle. Two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot to nearby bushes. The suspects were apprehended and upon search of the vehicle a total of 203 fresh abalone were seized to an estimated street value of R101, 500. The vehicle they used was also seized. The suspects were detained at Caledon SAPS on charges of attempted murder, reckless and negligent driving and possession and transportation of abalone, and are due to appear in Caledon Magistrates court soon.
