Mr Tommy Wilson, Principal Academia, and Mr B Loriston, Director, Department of Education
At the annual Directors’ Awards which is held in the beginning of the year where schools and learners get acknowledgement for their matric results. This year the spotlight was on Academia as the school who had the highest matric results for a new school’s first grade12 group in the Overberg. The director awarded the school for its pass rate of 92.15%. The Director, Mr B Loriston, mentioned the ground breaking work that Academia did for their learners and the exceptional hard work by the teachers. Ms Penny Vinjevold, Superintendent General of the Western Cape, Department of Education, personally phoned Mr Loriston to congratulate him on Academia’s results. Mr Tommy Wilson, principal, accepted the award on behalf of the school. With this award and the accolades to the school, 2013 will be a year of huge challenges.
