The Viva Art Fest Stanford is coming up on the 2nd November 2013 with loads of local food, music and entertainment in, you guessed right, Stanford!

With great joy and a surprising success we, The Viva Foundation of South Africa, created the world's first Living Art Gallery in Mamelodi, Tshwane, by transforming actual shack-homes into works of art, with the aim to attract tourism and business to the community. And it worked. We had great media exposure and people are coming all year to see the artworks and to enjoy the hospitality of the local community.

This year we already launched the Viva Art Fest Zwelihle, that was part of the official Whale Festival 2013 and in Partnership with Learn to Earn, Hadaskin Music Productions and local volunteers from the High School we had a fun day with music, art and food at the Zwelihle Taxi rank where you still can see the art work. It started small but it will become one of the great attractions of Hermanus, especially for overseas visitors who are keen to experience local African culture.

The painted houses of the living art gallery have a dramatic effect, not only aesthetically, but also in the general attitude of the community. Known local and artists form abroad specializing in different art-disciplines, contribute and volunteer their time and resources in this project. They create a lasting art work to enjoy. The Mamelodi Art Festival where all began now attracts tourists all year round.

Next on the map is Stanford. A community already known for its art and local flair.

In Stanford the community is battling with unemployment, drugs and young people without hope. Green tourism and Stanford as an Art Route Destination is one answer to that.

In partnership with the Stanford Community Police Forum, the David Krut Foundation, the Tourism Office and many small and powerful local initiatives the first Viva Art Fest Stanford will take place this year on Saturday 2nd Nov 2013 ALL DAY 8am to 8pm
