R43 Padgebruikers Kla: Padmakers Moet Spoed V...
Gansbaai Courant het heelwat klagtes van padgebruikers ontvang dat die R43-pad tussen Stanford en Gansbaai onveilig is.

The Stanford 6’s at the SCG (Stanford Cricket Ground) is a charity cricket tournament that happens every year on Boxing Day, 26th December. This is our 12th tournament and every year the event is growing.
The day is organised by a few Stanford locals who enjoy playing cricket and eventually decided that as more and more people were showing an interest in the day, that we might as well raise money for a good cause whilst we were at it.
The same four people are still organising the day and as we have no major sponsor we do so with our own funds. We appreciate any offers of sponsorship in the way of prizes or stock or cash! In return we are happy to have any advertising material around the field and for the sponsor to have an advert in our tournament programme.
The funds raised are for our local animal welfare and in the past we have donated to the local school hostel. Funds have also been used for the upgrading of Stanford’s historical market green, which also hosts the Stanford 6’s.
It is a fun day where players can play cricket, bring their families and friends, compete in the annual potjie kos competition, David Briers and his team and enjoy the surrounds of Stanford.
The kid’s cricket corner, sponsored by Overberg Agri, is for the younger folk to get together and play a bit of cricket. They are fortunate to have the likes of Bobby Skinstad or Schalk Burger bowling a few balls for them. This is always great for the kids who come to the event but we wish to encourage the children of Stanford who don’t know the game to get involved and play cricket. We are hoping to host cricket clinics for them not only on Boxing Day, but also during the course of the year.
The teams are booked a year in advance and players like Schalk Burger and Robbie Fleck have played in every tournament for the last 6 years. Schalk says it is the “highlight of his year”.
It is a great way to spend Boxing Day!
Please contact us if we can give you any further information about the day.
