On 24 August 2014 at about 01:30 members of Stanford SAPS received a report of a stabbing at a residence in Kannemeyer street, Stanford. On their arrival they found the victim named Henry Stompies with blood coming from his neck.

He was transported to Hermanus provincial hospital where he unfortunately passed away at around 06:40.

At this stage it is unknown exactly where the stabbing took place as the victim ran home after he was stabbed.

One suspect was arrested but has been released due to a lack of evidence at this stage.

However the clothes of the victim and the suspect as well as other items have been sent for forensic analysis at the SAPS laboratory.

This means that the suspect can still be charged with the murder should any further usable evidence comes to light.
