Die besoek deur beamptes van die Departement van Omgewingsake en Toerisme aan Gansbaai Toerisme word allerweë as ‘n opwindende gebeurtenis en voorreg beskou. Die beamptes is op ‘n kort toer na enkele plekke van belang geneem en het hul tevredenheid met die bedryf van Gansbaai Toerisme onder leiding van die Gansbaai Toerisme Komitee, asook die Bestuurder, Glenda Kitley uitgespreek.

Die nuutverkose voorsitter van die Gansbaai Toerisme Komitee, Brenda du Toit, het die Departement se besoek soos volg beskryf: “What a pleasure to host Bafana Nimelane and Bulelani Silangwe from the Department of Tourism on Wednesday 8^th October.  Gansbaai, Kleinmond, Hermanus and Stanford all had the opportunity to showcase projects for possible development. Both our guests live in Pretoria and were impressed by the natural beauty of the area and particularly enjoyed the whales and the fynbos. Visits included De Kelders viewing decks, Stanford Cove, the harbour, Danger Point Lighthouse, the market area and Pearly Beach Conservancy where we explored the wonders of the Fynbos Garden.

The group enjoyed a township tour of Masakhane, a tour of Blompark with a local lunch and a visit to the kelp business of Buffeljachts. Their tour opened up much discussion for tourism and skills development and the Cape Whale Coast tourism bureaus together with the Overstrand Municipality will look into formalising a proposal for the area as a whole. Nimelana and Silangwe will be visiting other areas in the country but we are quite sure they will be back and we are positive that they will be looking very closely at development for this area.”
