The Overberg District Municipality seeks to ensure management of air quality and the control of air pollution within the area of jurisdiction of the Municipality.
To provide for air quality and matters incidental thereto, Overberg District Municipality is rendering these services in terms of Section 156(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa Act, 1996, read with Section 13(i) of the Local Government Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act No 32 of 2000) and Section 11(1) of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2000 (Act No 39 of 2004).
This is the first Air Quality By-Law for the District and was promulgated on 15 May 2015.
