The two biologists leaving Dyer Island Conservation Trust after completed their Master’s degrees

Two biologists, Oliver Jewell and Michelle Wcisel left Dyer Island Conservation Trust (DICT) at the end of August after several years of excellent work. Both completed their Master’s degree and will now be working in the UK. Oliver did his Master’s degree on Foraging Ecology of White Sharks under the supervision of Prof Marthan Bester of the University of Pretoria and Ryan Johnson of Oceans Research. Michelle finalised her Master’s degree on The effects White Shark’s presence has on Cape Fur Seal movements at Geyser Rock under the supervision of Prof Justin O’Riain and Prof Les Underhill of the University of Cape Town. Oliver and Michelle have been part of the DICT “family” for almost 5 years.

“Both these biologists will be sorely missed, they contributed greatly to marine research and science, as well as the success of the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, we wish them best of luck with their future endeavours.” said Alouise Lynch, Operations Manager, DICT.
