Western Police Cape police have Saturday locked up two men aged between 28 and 29 who were arrested by the Provincial Traffics on the N2 Road in Caledon. The vehicle in which the two men were travelling was stopped by the Traffics and during the search, about 4,071 abalone was seized. The vehicle was also confiscated. The men appeared in Caledon Magistrate court on Monday the 7th April 2014 on charges relating to Illegal Possession of abalone.
The Western Cape police management has expressed its concern about the illegal activities relating to abalone in the province and warned those involved to refrain from these activities as police will stop at nothing to root them out of the law abiding communities.
