Numerous enquiries have been received from the public regarding trading hours of licenced liquor premises.
In terms of the Western Cape Liquor Act, Act 4 of 2008 Section 59, a municipality may by means of a by-law, determine different hours and days for licenced businesses for consumption on and off licenced premises. On consumption being premises where liquor may only be consumed on the pre-mises, such as a restaurant or pub. Off consumption being a premises such as a bottle store or shop where liquor may not be consumed on the premises.
The trading hours as determined by the Overstrand Municipality is as follows:
On consumption 08:00 – 20:00 on any day
Off consumption 10:00 – 02:00 on any day
