Werner Engelbrecht - Owner

The proud owner of Health and Active Gansbaai. Werner`s number 1 mission is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can achieve their fitness goals and transform their lives. With years of experience in the fitness industry, he has curated a state-of-the-art facility equipped with top-notch equipment and expert trainers. Werner wants to empower members to take control of their health, build confidence and unlock their full potential while fostering a sense of community and belonging that extends far beyond the gym walls.

Johan Breytenbach - Head of Admin & Co-Owner

Johan is the head of Admin and the financial Department and the  Co-owner of the gym,he is the driving force and heartbeat of Health and Active. He is the multitasking maestro who ensures that everyone`s workout journey is smooth and rewarding. He is passionate and dedicated to his team and committed to creating a supportive gym community. He is the conductor of our gym`s orchestra, making sure everything - from staff motivation to financial harmony is in tune.  Next time you see him give a nod of appreciation.  He is lifting more than just weights.

Yolandi Kriel - Pilates & Stretch instructor

Yolandi is the group Pilates instructor at Health and Active Gansbaai with years of experience and a passion for mindful movement. She is dedicated to helping you achieve optimal physical alignment, strength and flexibility. Yolandi will guide you through a transformative Pilates practice tailored to your unique needs and goals. (BUT WAIT.. There’s more) Yolandi is also our stretch instructor. Yolandi will help you explore a series of gentle yet powerful stretches to release tension, improve range and motion, and cultivate inner calm.

Dian Brand - Personal trainer & Navy Fit instructor

Dian grew up in Gansbaai and fitness is his passion. Dian has spent most of his career in the military as a fitness instructor. He has triumphed in great achievements like SANDF fittest soldier championships and was part of the NYS program helping youth develop skills. Helping, motivating and pushing the boundaries is what he lives for. He has helped hundreds of people transform their lives through fitness. Dian is one of our Top Personal Trainers and is Ready to help you achieve your dream body.He is also our Navy Fit Group class instructor. If you are looking for someone to push you, Dian is your guy!

Anthea Goedde - Spin & Hydro-Burn Instructor

Anthea is the evening Spinning instructor at Health and Active Gansbaai. From the moment the music starts she is in her element. Anthea believes it’s not just a class it’s a “spinning Family”. She always keeps you motivated and stating, “we are in this together”. Anthea is also our Early morning Hydro-Burn instructor. Anthea became hooked to the gym in 2018 and did she deliver. Not only is Anthea an instructor- The bodybuilding bug bit and Anthea has won numerous bodybuilding awards. She also received her Springbok apparel in 2023 For bodybuilding in the bikini category.

Sj Du venage - Personal trainer & Hydro-Power instructor

SJ is our Fitness life coach and personal trainer all in one. SJ is passionate about helping you unlock your full potential and live a vibrant, healthy lifestyle. His coaching approach combines physical fitness, mental well-being and personalized guidance to help you overcome obstacles and reach new heights. SJ believes that fitness is not just about physical transformation, but also about mental and emotional growth.He is also our Hydro-Power instructor.Get ready to transform your body, mind and spirit with SJ!

Belinda Van Der Merwe - Yoga Instructor

Belinda is our outgoing yoga instructor. Join Belinda on a journey of self-discovery, growth and transformation. Belinda’s teaching style blends traditional yoga principles with modern insights, focusing on breath awareness, mindful movement and inner connection. She creates a safe, nurturing space for students of all levels to explore their potential, cultivate inner peace and unlock their full expression.

Nathan Taylor - Personal trainer & Easy fit instructor

Nathan is one of our passionate personal trainers. He is dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals and unlock a stronger, healthier you. With a tailored approach and supportive guidance, Nathan will help push you beyond your limits! He will also be with you every step of the way and celebrate your victory as you reach your goals and then help you reach new heights in Your fitness journey. Nathan is also our Easy fit group fitness instructor!

Andrea De Pauw - Spin Instructor

Andrea is our early morning Spin instructor. She thrives on energizing and motivating her riders to tackle the day ahead. Andrea leads High-energy classes that combine engaging playlists, challenging drills and inspiring affirmations to create an unforgettable experience. As the morning sun rises, she is dedicated to helping her riders boost their cardiovascular fitness, build endurance and cultivate a sense of community. Andrea also competed in Bodybuilding shows.
Eddie Windsor - Yoga Instructor
Eddie is our Traditional yoga instructor. Eddie focusses on proper breathing techniques, meditation, and physical postures to balance the body`s energy. Focussing on Traditional yoga it encourages slow, deliberate movements, and quiet contemplation. By embracing this classical approach, you can experience profound relaxation improved flexibility and a deeper connection to your inner self.

Caroline Van Eeden - Body Sculpting Instructor

Caroline is our Body sculpting instructor. She specializes in leading high-energy, results-driven classes that help members achieve their fitness goals and transform their physiques. In Body sculpting you can expect a workout that focusses on multiple muscle groups simultaneously, improving overall strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Caroline will guide you all the way and help you get a lean, toned body while boosting your confidence and overall well-being. All that with a smile!

Adi Jacobs - Administrator

Adi is one of the welcoming faces you will see as you enter the gym. Adi will be happy to help you get started on your fitness journey. Whether you`re a seasoned athlete or just starting out, our gym is dedicated to providing a supportive and motivating environment to help reach your goals and Adi will be there to help you every step of the way! If you have any problems or questions, Adi is your “GO-TO Guy!”

Raya Lewis - Floor manager

Raya is basically part of the furniture at Health and Active. Raya has been part of the team for 11 years and she is one of the friendly faces that will welcome you as you enter the gym. Raya is there to answer any of your questions regarding your fitness journey and help you get started. Raya will gladly show you around the facilities and help you get settled in!

GROUP CLASSES

CARDIO CLASSES

NAVY FIT:

A firm favourite with exercise enthusiasts of all levels. Navy fit classes is where you get to work every single muscle in your body while having a whole lot of fun. Navy fit encompasses military style, interval training that usually works on a rotation method. The short bursts of exercises will have you begging for mercy but will leave you feeling totally energised.

STEP:

A step routine choreographed to music that will keep even the fittest fitness fanatics on their toes. The class combines basic stepping and aerobics together with fitness exercises to ensure that you get a full body workout.

SPINNING:

A class that takes you on an indoor cycle ride on stationary spinning bikes, while being motivated by your spinning instructor. Your trainer will simulate cycling on flat roads then coax you up hills and down valleys after which you get to sprint and race. This is undoubtedly the queen of all cardiovascular classes and best of all is you get to do it regardless of the weather.

HYDRO BURN & HYDRO POWER:

This classes is a perfect mix of strength training and toning! basically a full body workout while making your workout fun! The best thing about this class is we use water bags for your workout. The water bag`s unpredictable movement and resistance provide a challenging and dynamic workout,engaging your core,arms and legs.This type of training is beneficial for fitness enthusiasts looking to enhance their teqnique,build endurance, and increase their overall physical fitness.

EASY FIT:

Easy fit is a low-impact, beginner-friendly fitness program designed for individuals of all ages and fitness levels.This class typically involves a combination of cardio, strength training and flexibility exercises such as bodyweight movements. Easy fit prioritizes progress over perfection,emphasizing fun,camaraderie and sustainable lifestyle changes over intense,high-impact workouts.

YOGA:

Yoga is a holistic practice that combines physical postures,breathing techniques and meditation to promote physical,mental and emotional well-being.Through a series ofgentle to dynamic movements,yoga helps to strengthen and stretch the muscles,improve flexibility and balance and calm the mind.

STRETCH:

A gentle class designed to increase your flexibility through a series of movements using the Swiss ball.

BODY SCULPTING:

A total body workout using dumbbells, aerobic bars, exercise rings, dynabands and a mat. The class begins with a warm up and ends with a gentle cool down.

PILATES:

A tranquil class designed to strengthen your muscles and stabilize your core. Learn the art of precision, control and technique, as you work your way to a better sense of well-being.

Ems Training is known for its joint friendly nature.
