Cooking and needlework are in Judy Groenewald’s blood and she has been honing these skills since childhood. Much to the delight of her family, Judy has always loved testing new recipes and it was after discovering a recipe for homemade Tabasco-inspired sauce that things in Judy’s kitchen started to sizzle. This hot chilli sauce was an instant hit and everyone who tried it wanted more. Judy began selling her hot sauce at the Baardskeerdersbos Plaasmark and her product was so popular that she decided to add fresh homemade breads to her table. Only the freshest ingredients are used and items such as the chilli are left to mature for up to six months to allow the full flavour to develop.
Judy strives to be as eco-friendly as possible and the glass jars and bottles she uses are recycled and then reused after a rigorous cleaning, with only the lids being new. At the monthly market, Judy only uses recyclable brown paper bags to package her customers’ purchases.
Judy’s product range includes a whole lot more than her popular Hot Chilli Sauce and deliciously fresh, home-baked breads, which include a selection of white, brown, ciabatta and sourdough.
