Komtessa Boutique was established by Kokkie Engelbrecht who opened Komtessa boutiques in Tygervalley and Goodwood, in 1977. The Gansbaai branch followed in 1992.
In 2022, after almost fifty years in the fashion and retail industry, Kokkie decided it was time to take a well-deserved break, and Tinneke Lutzeyer took ownership of the boutique.
Kokkie and Tinneke have a long history together that stretches back to when Tinneke was in her teens. She proudly says that her first-holiday job was helping out in the boutique. It was here that her love for fashion and working with people was born, inspiring her dream of one day opening a fashion retail store, of her own.
After matriculating, Tinneke received her Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture Medium at the African Film and Drama Academy in 2008.
Going forward, Tinneke wants to continue with Komtessa’s attention to quality and personalised service, while growing a collection of timeless outfits for women of all ages. Her fresh approach to fashion embraces clothing for all occasions and includes showcasing the talents of local designers.

To ensure the very best experience when shopping for your bridal and formal wear, Tinneke offers a one-on-one consultation that includes spending exclusive time with you, while you make your selection. Please note that this service needs to be booked in advance.
Komtessa Boutique leads the way when it comes to custom fashion designs and clothing alterations.
Tinneke works closely with local designers and suppliers, and whenever possible, will personally arrange your preferred colour and size if it is not available in-store.
The boutique uses a professional seamstress who has years of dressmaking and alteration experience, to take care of any tailoring on garments bought ‘off-the-shelf’. This includes hemming, shaping and custom-sizing.
