Big Fish

Overberg Boat Club is a family orientated boat angling club that is an affiliated member of the Western Province Deep Sea Angling Association. The club that has become a household name in boat angling circles, is located on the Danger Point Road just outside Gansbaai. If television reality shows such as ‘Hier Gaan Ons Alweer’ or ‘Monster Fish’ get you grabbing for your tackle box, and you count Kabeljou instead of sheep when you can’t fall asleep at night, then all signs point toward a serious fishing addiction. A visit to Overberg Boat Club is the only known cure. The club promotes environmental sustainability and enforces strict rules regarding bag limit and fish size. Members have a personal motto stating that “no fish under a kilo counts”. Anglers are also advised to catch and release red roman, red stumpnose and rock cods and all other species on the red data list. Overberg Boat Club is available for venue hire and is perfect for functions and activities with a capacity to host up to 120 people. Well behaved four legged family members are more than welcome.

Competitions are hosted at least once a month and are split into club competitions and Western Province League Competitions.

Higher level competitions are the Western Province League Competitions in which the prime of the Western Province Fishing Association will compete. These Protea anglers are entrants who have been nominated to compete. These competitors can eventually go on to compete internationally.

Lower level competitions are local club competitions between club members who live in and around Gansbaai.

Overberg Boat Club has shower facilities with hot water for those who would like to freshen up after a long day out on the water.
