Schooner House is in a building that has been a cherished landmark in Gansbaai for over a century.
Over the years, this heritage site has evolved from an old-fashioned boarding house into a modern guesthouse. It has warmly welcomed families, groups of friends, and international travellers, with many returning to enjoy its unique charm and rich history.
Trudie Nel and Derick Louw are dedicated to providing exceptional service at Schooner House.
With Trudie’s roots in Botswana’s Kalahari enriching their approach to hospitality, they work in harmony to ensure that every guest feels at home. Trudie and Derick’s shared passion for crafting personalised holiday itineraries makes each stay truly memorable, and they go above and beyond to create unique guest experiences for everyone who visits.

Schooner House has eleven ground-floor guest rooms and spacious communal living areas for socialising and relaxation.
A wrap-around veranda on the front of the building has chairs and tables where you can enjoy breakfast or catch up on your correspondence.
The communal living room, with its comfortable leather couches, is perfect for unwinding with friends, curling up with a good book or watching your favourite shows on TV.

Schooner House has nine standard rooms with amenities that include basic kitchenette accessories.
The Classic Double Rooms each have a double bed, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet.
