Sommelier & Company was established by Esme Groenewald and Barry Scholfield, two of South Africa’s most acclaimed sommeliers, in 2022.

The duo both attained among the highest levels of sommelier accreditation, and this, paired with an impeccable track record gained in some of the most prestigious restaurants in South Africa is the foundation of Sommelier & Company.

Amari Kraft: Esme and Barry share their passion for guest experiences, world-class wines, small-batch beers, and speciality foods. Moreover, supporting the local community, and the growing number of wine estates and micro-breweries that the Overberg has to offer, lies close to the heart.
Gansbaai Bakhuis: Sebastian Adderley, a second-generation bread maker, is the team's artisanal baker. Son of renowned artist and baker Niel Jonker, Sebastian has inherited his father's talent for baking fine bread. To make sure customers get the freshest baked goods all the time, he leads his committed baking crew through the small hours of the morning and during load-shedding.
