Second hike for the month!

Location: J&S Shop parking lot, Tesselaarsdal (a little past the Post Office - no parking there). Find it here!

Join us for an exciting new hike, opened up by Jenny Hayes, taking us from a farm on the outskirts of Tesselaarsdal to the summit of Spitskop.

Hike Details

• Distance: 7 km

• Difficulty: Moderate

• Route Description:

Starts off gradually, with a reasonably steep climb early on.
A gentler ascent leads to the summit, with half the distance on a jeep track and the remainder a single track near the Gargoyle.
Breakfast Spot: At the top, with breathtaking views of Akkedisberg, Stanford, and De Kelders.
Fynbos Bloom: Enjoy the surprising beauty of the partially blooming fynbos along the way!
Return Route: Back the way we came.

Travel Info:

• The road between Rooidriffie and Tesselaarsdal is dusty and corrugated but passable.
• From Gansbaai (via Stanford and Stonehaven Cheese Shop) to Tesselaarsdal is about 58 km.

Essentials to Pack:

• Comfortable hiking shoes
• Sunblock
• Snacks and drinks

After the hike, enjoy a delicious burger and drinks at the Post Office! If you’d like to join, please contact us so they can prepare - we don’t want to overwhelm them!
