You are warmly invited to join us for our next Sundowner Session at Waterkop, Out of the Ashes – Lessons from a Fire, an engaging and thought-provoking evening with Sean Privett, botanist and Managing Director of Grootbos Foundation. Set against the backdrop of the fire-driven fynbos landscapes of the Overberg and Western Cape, this session will explore the profound impact of recent fires that swept through Stanford, Gansbaai and the Walker Bay region. Fire is an inevitable force in these ecosystems — reshaping landscapes, affecting livelihoods and creating powerful opportunities for renewal and long-term conservation. Sean will share insights from the past fire season and reflect on the remarkable botanical regeneration and conservation possibilities emerging from the ashes. Guests are welcome from 17:00 to enjoy a glass of wine before the talk begins. The event is open to the public; however, RSVP is essential before 25 February. Donations are warmly welcomed to help cover the cost of refreshments and to support the ongoing conservation programmes of Grootbos Foundation.
