The Lomond Spring Challenge caters to both seasoned athletes and those simply looking to enjoy a day out in nature. With two events – a mountain biking option and a trail running option -participants of all fitness levels can take part. Whether you’re a competitive athlete seeking to test your limits or someone eager to soak up the scenic beauty while moving at your own pace, there’s something for everyone.
For those who prefer two wheels, the mountain biking trails offer thrilling rides through groomed terrain. Choose between the 18km, 35km or 60km routes, each designed to challenge your skills and reward you with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. This race is sanctioned by the CSA. Lace up your running shoes for our exhilarating trail runs that wind through the vineyards, fynbos, and along the serene shores of the Lomond Dam.
Distances range from 8km for beginners and families to a more challenging 30km route for seasoned trail runners. There is also an intermediate 18km route for you to consider too! Each route offers a unique perspective on the stunning natural beauty of Lomond Wine Estate.

The Lomond Spring Challenge isn’t just about the races—it’s a full weekend experience. After your race, unwind with a spot of music, delicious food, and, of course, some of the best wine in South Africa with our award-winning wines. Our tasting room will be open, offering the perfect opportunity to sample Lomond’s finest vintages, including our celebrated Syrah (including our Conebush Single Vineyard Syrah 2021 – a recent winner of a Top 12 award in the Shiraz SA challenge) and our range of Sauvignon Blancs.
