Wine List Art
There is an art to making wine. For an Italian, there's also an art to choosing the wines for your winelist.
Fabio's is an Italian restaurant. It sounds quite obvious when you say it, but the name doesn't describe the venue.
Fabio's is not just a restaurant that happens to make Italian food. For one thing, the Lenci family are Italian, from Lecco in Northern Italy. They are in fact a family of restauranteurs. So when you add that together and distill it into a restaurant in Hermanus, you are bound to get a signature establishment.
When you visit, even if you are a regular, take a moment to stand upstairs and savour the moment. There is so much that you might miss. There are food items stored on the shelves (and used in the kitchen). There are family photos on the wall. There are wine lists, hand written on blackboards. And it's not just the visual experience. You are next to the kitchen. Those delicious sauces and dishes are homemade and hand made using rigorously selected ingredients. The aromas of real cooking simply fill the room.
Italian dining is all about family and friends. Everything is ample and generous. Nothing is rushed. Conversation is essential. When the meal is over, you must feel satisfied and at one with the world.
