The Law of Cause and Effect

It is important to understand The Law of Cause and Effect if you wish to take control of your thoughts and your life. Most people live their lives merely responding to external influences and never take the time to investigate what is truly important. This lack of inner directedness, combined with falling prey to the pressures of daily existence, firmly places them in victimhood. People that live their lives like this become victims of this law because they fail to grasp the potential of using it to benefit them. The Law of Cause and Effect is an expression of the Divine Order of the Universe. It states that absolutely nothing ever happens by chance or outside the Universal Laws. We may not always be able to identify the many, often complex, chain of events that produce specific effects, but this is merely due to our limited knowledge.

Nothing happens by chance. There is nothing such as luck or coincidence… we have been creating our reality all along. Everything that happens is due to the influence of The Law of Cause and Effect. Every action has a consequence, we “reap what we sow.” Remember you are the architect of your life and what you have and where you are is the result of your thinking and doing. Take a moment and think about your life. Where are you in terms of your health, relationships, career, bank account, house, car, etc? Have you ever considered how you created and influenced these? When you do deep introspection and meditate upon this, you will realise that your situation was created by you and you alone. Your dominant thought patterns are controlled by your perceptions. The results you have are the effects of your habitual thinking, behaviour and habits. All thoughts and actions are transmitted into the universe and are redirected back in some form or other. This is why you should at all times attempt to have only creative thoughts.

Never badmouth or put others down. Be kind to people and treat everyone with love, respect, and kindness, including yourself. Remember that loving yourself unconditionally is not a sign of vanity as we have been led to believe. It is far removed from the love of self that those with narcissistic or egoistic pride display.

Remember all things you say, do or wish for will by the effect of this law come back to you. This is the law of Karma. This truth is contained in the phrase: “what goes around comes around.” If you concentrate on positive thoughts and apply good actions, you never need to worry about the effect. The universe will always take care of the effect, this is the dictum of this Universal Law. If you allow nature to do the work, it will do so effortlessly and by default.

Sadly, most people tend to live on the “effect” side of life, which they are of course free to do providing that they are willing to take responsibility for their decision. People that choose this option are those that love to complain. They thrive on the attention and juice they get from complaining. Those that execute this option love to use excuses. They use all types of excuses as reasons for not getting the results they wish for. Some people are excellent at this and make use of superb reasons to justify their lack of achievement. The excuses they use to justify themselves normally include things like their background, their upbringing, their family, the economy, the government, their spouse, the kids, their parents, the education system, and so forth. They fail to take responsibility for their actions. Where will these people be when they are 75, 90, or 100 years old and they look back at their lives? Of what value will those excuses be then?

Going forward rather choose to live on the cause side of life. Take responsibility for what you have created. Both the good and those things you may not be so proud of. People that live on the cause side of life create results that they are proud of. They take responsibility for their lives and live in gratitude. Those who live on the effect side take on the role of victims and fail to take ownership of the negative circumstances that they have created. Instead of accepting responsibility for their actions, they shift blame onto others. They attempt to validate their actions by creating an idealised version of themselves that they expect others to believe. They constantly rationalise their actions but these are more like "rational lies." They believe that creative achievements are due to their actions but that adverse things are due to bad luck or the actions of others. This is no more than a foolish and childish game of “make-believe.” Only hypocrites live life like this. It is better to take responsibility for your circumstances and learn from your experiences than to hide behind your egoistic pride and blame your circumstances on others.

Always admit to the fact that you, and only you, are responsible for the situation that you are in. Remember, if you reject The Law of Cause and Effect, you disempower yourself, you close yourself off to learning and you will only create the same results over and over again. If you wish to grow and expand, rather choose to learn from your experiences and move on. If you do this, what you discover will serve as valuable resourceful strategies that you can apply to prevent the mistakes of the past from repeating themselves. In doing so, you learn, you grow, you develop, and you move on. This is true learning. If you wish to change your life but prefer the familiarity of your comfort zone, you are living an illusion and everything will stay the same. According to the laws of nature, nothing is supposed to stay the way it is. There needs to be continual growth. We have been placed on this planet to learn, grow and evolve. There is only growth or decay, nothing can ever remain the same.

Now ask yourself the following question: "Which side of the cause and effect equation am I living on? Do I live on the "effect” side of life where things just happen to me? Am I powerless to change things because I am a victim of my circumstances or am I on the cause side of life?  Am I in charge of my life and do I make decisions that have a positive impact on my results or not?”

Remember if you wish to change your life and decide to take control, you cannot go halfway. To live on the cause side, you have to take full responsibility for everything that you have created, whether it be your health, relationships, finances, or other areas of your life. The moment you exclude certain things, thinking that it was not of your doing or that it happened due to bad luck, you would again be cast into the 'effect' side. This is the domain of phonies where the rules are changed as deemed fit.
