Is Your Liver Affecting Your Skin?

The liver is your primary detoxification organ! 

It processes everything you eat, drink, breathe and absorb through the skin!

It filters out toxins and converts them into harmless substances (including fats and hormones) that can be eliminated. When the liver is overwhelmed and its ability to detoxify is compromised, then the body is compromised. This leads to a buildup of toxins in the bloodstream, which in turn results in skin issues. 

ACNE and SKIN BREAKOUTS - is often linked to liver health, the liver is unable to process and eliminate excess toxin and hormones. This leads to an overproduction of sebum (oil) in the skin, which can clog pores, causing acne.

Symptoms include persistent breakouts (face, back and chest), inflamed acne with red swollen pimples, and hormonal acne which worsens around menstruation. 

ITCHY SKIN/PRURITUS can be a sign that the bile flow from the liver is reduced or blocked. The build-up of acids in the skin causes intense itching which may be worse at night and on the hands and feet. Note that a visible rash may not always occur. 

DARK CIRCLES UNDER EYES may also be a sign of a sluggish liver as it is responsible to detoxifying the blood, and the toxins built up from a liver not functioning optimally can cause dark complexions and dark circles. Remember that this may also be an indicator of poor kidney function, as the liver and kidneys work hand in hand. 

ECZEMA AND PSORIASIS are chronic inflammatory conditions which may be exasperated when there is a toxin buildup due to a compromised liver. This can lead to worsened conditions of dry, flaky, irritated skin. 

SKIN RASHES AND HIVES can be a result when there is an accumulation of toxins in the body which trigger an immune response leading to rashes and hives, itching, redness and swelling.
