The Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources and Energy will be conducting public hearings on the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Bill within the Western Cape Province.
The public hearing for the Overberg will be held as follows:
Date: Saturday, 18 February 2023
Place: Victoria Hall, Caledon
Time: 10:00 - 14:00
The Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Bill seeks to separate petroleum provisions from minerals provisions as currently provided for in the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (the MPRDA), 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002). This separation was necessary because of the need to provide for two independent pieces of legislation addressing matters pertinent to each industry and to bring about stability and security to investors, especially in the upstream petroleum sector.
This serves as an invitation to attend and participate in the upcoming public hearing and further provide your input on the draft design under consideration.
Parliament will provide transport on the day of the public hearing.
