Media Release: Arts and Culture Funding Opportunities Now Available

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport has opened its annual call for funding applications for organisations and individuals in the arts and culture sector.

Funding is available in various categories, including cultural tourism, literature, film, language promotion and preservation and the performing arts. The criteria and categories for funding, as well as application forms, are available online at https://www.westerncape.gov.za/cas/service/arts-and-culture-funding

The Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, said: “The arts and culture sector plays a crucial role in the Western Cape in creating job opportunities, bringing visitors to our province and growing our local economy. We have a wealth of talent in our province, and we are committed to supporting our local artists and organisations in this sphere to ensure they can continue their work.”

Applications for funding will close on Monday, 9 March 2026, at 23:59.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit at least 24-48 hours before the deadline to avoid missing the deadline. Late applications received after 23:59 on the closing date will not be considered.
