UPDATE: ONRUS LAGOON CONFIRMED SAFE FOR RECREATIONAL USE ON 03.11.2021
The 'no swimming' advisory for the Onrus lagoon has been lifted on Wednesday, 3 November 2021.
According to the Overberg District Municipality's Health Department, who is responsible for recreational water quality for estuaries, the signage board can be removed as they are satisfied that the water is safe for public recreational use.
The warning signage was put up on 25 October 2021 after a pipe burst on the Onrus sewer main line. Sewage entered the stormwater system during the incident.
