SANRAL Training for Local Contractors
SANRAL training to assist local contractors to access opportunities within construction industry.
On Saturday, 22 October 2022, triathletes return to the Overstrand for the fifth time for the Race2Stanford (R2S). This time for the scenic detour, which due to roadworks on the Hemel-en-Aarde Road required a route change.
Athletes participating the 100km event will start at 07:00 with a 2km swim in Gordon’s Bay before taking on the 90km cycle via Clarence Drive to Gearing’s Point, Hermanus, from where they will be running for 18kms through Fernkloof Nature Reserve to finish on the grass area at the Old Harbour Theatre.
The left lane on Clarence Drive will be closed between 07:00 and 11:00.
For the shorter ‘sprint’ event in Hermanus, an estimate 45 athletes will start at 08:30 with a 750m swim in the Hermanus New Harbour, cycle 20km to Vermont and back before running 5km along the Main Road and the Cliff Path.
There will be no road closures in Hermanus, but Gearing’s Point will be used as a transition area with a section closed off while the athletes change from cycling to running. José Burman Road will be affected but no roads will be closed in Hermanus. The R2S Detour event will be finished between 15:00 and 16:00.
Residents, businesses, and visitors are urged to plan ahead for travel and parking on Saturday.
