After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch and chasing summer on international harvests (Australia, France & USA), Stuart Botma settled in Hermanus. During the day he assists in the Hermanuspietersfontein cellar, whilst diligently tinkering away on his own project.

Twenty-Twenty-One marks the maiden vintage of Kindred Coast, based in Hermanus, the focus is to capture the maritime climate and its surrounding influences. Grapes are sourced solely from vineyards within 25 km of the ocean - this narrow corridor acting as a seam from which to frame and explore the Cape South Coast. The philosophy is built around pragmatic winemaking (only intervening when necessary) and a lightness of step, to produce wines of a unique character. 

Currently, the range consists of two blends; the white built around Sauvignon blanc with an ensemble of unexpected heroes, who tip their collective hat towards a shared cool climate origin. While the red is an exploration of style; with punchy pure fruit and approachability - well suited for both summer and winter enjoyment.

Kindred Coast White: Blackcurrant leaf and hay with aromatic high notes of white peach lend intrigue. Grapefruit, cut grass and lime zest lead the palate - with a crunchy green apple acidity. Lightly textured from barrel fermentation with a delicate phenolic grip. Blend: 55% Sauvignon blanc, 32% Sémillon, 8% Viognier & 5% Nouvelle; 12.5% Alcohol.

Kindred Coast Red: Initial smokey meaty notes give way to generous dark cherry and juicy black- & raspberry fruit. In the palate; red plum skin fleshy-ness and subtle whole-bunch undertones are accentuated by hints of pepper. While a fine tannin structure underpins and supports the fruit. Best enjoyed with a slight chill. Blend: 45% Mourvèdre, 33% Grenache & 22% Syrah; 13.0% Alcohol.

About Us

Have you ever heard about a great wine but could never find a bottle for yourself (to share with friends, of course)? Well, the team at Wine & Company do all the hard work for you! We visit wine farms and attend tastings to find, taste, and then stock wine from the smaller Estates and independent winemakers who buy grapes and produce outstanding wine under their own labels – much the same as the French negociants have been doing for centuries. Given that these winemakers make wine in such small quantities, sometimes just a single barrel, their wine will never be found on the shelves of the major retailers, but only in specialist shops like Wine & Company on High Street, Hermanus.

In addition to the great selection of well-known wines and MCC's, we also stock local craft gin and beer, French Champagne, Belgian Ales as well as whisky and other spirits. Wine & Company (established in 1998 by Bartho Eksteen) has a well-earned reputation for stocking hard-to-find small-batch wines and we strive to continue this great tradition. If you purchase a bottle of wine from us and it is faulty we will gladly replace the bottle and return the faulty wine to the winemaker.
