Warm Winter Meals - Soup, Butter Chicken and Birya...
The rain’s falling, the fire’s crackling, and something delicious is simmering on the stove&hellip...
Coffee @ The Well was started by Riana Degenaar and her husband, Danie, in November 2022.
Riana is passionate about hospitality and is involved in menu planning with Chef Lee Shangara. Lee has worked in the same kitchen on the premises for over 15 years and has quite a following. Regular customers love it when he makes a guest appearance in the front-of-house and does his rounds at the tables.
When Riana isn’t helping Lee in the kitchen, she is out front (joined by Danie), serving tables and making new friends.
When asked what sets their establishment apart, Riana says they are a resting place along the road, offering more than just coffee. Their clients are friends who become family.

“Coffee @ The Well is Kleinmond’s best coffee shop, away from the maddening crowd. There is a view of the ocean with serene energy. The staff go the extra mile. Yummy food. The place has a play corner for children and is pet-friendly.” Jacqui Levy
“We enjoyed lunch in this cosy coffee shop. We had the vegan baked potato, chicken toast, and a scone, accompanied by an iced coffee and a peanut butter smoothie. The host was welcoming, and the ambience was very nice.” Eleana Velentza
“My friends and I were frantically searching for a last-minute birthday cake. Unfortunately, Kleinmond is in the middle of absolutely nowhere, so we were coming up short. While perusing the local shops, we came across Coffee @ The Well. Upon entering and explaining our situation, a man who we believe was the owner seemed very excited about the challenge of making a birthday cake in two hours and eight minutes. We agreed to buy the cake without knowing what it would look like, and oh my - our trust was well placed. When we picked up the cake, we were flabbergasted, and when we ate it, our flabber was further gasted. 10/10! We recommend them and their cake.” Meghan Jones
“I had a delicious quiche and coffee for breakfast at Coffee @ The Well. Refreshing friendly service.” Jan en Martie Stander
“What a lovely atmosphere at Coffee @ The Well! This little gem is owner-run with a lot of heart. Sunny the bird is also a treat. He will gladly sing his little heart out for you with his most beautiful song! I loved my almond cappuccino and English breakfast. Most definitely going again to take in the sight sitting outside with the mountain to the right and the sea to the left!” Suzy Wilson
