Head Office Pub is the place where all the young locals hang out and where the drinks are relatively cheap. It also comes kitted with two pool tables and a dart board. I think I saw the dart board get used once during the whole 30-what days I’ve been there. It’s always been a mystery to me why you would ix alcohol and sharp pointy things that fly through the air. Absolute madness. So let’s look at the specifics of the place then, shall we?
The major thing that the atmosphere lacks is consistency. When the pub is full and pumping, it makes for one awesome jol, but on a slow day, there are a million places I would rather be. It’s quite a small place and they had to fit a whole bar and two pool tables in so there is a fine line between pumping and overcrowded. The new years eve jam saw the place heavily overcrowded but as NYE parties go, one tends to forget about most things as the night progresses.
I give the vibe of the place a 7/10.
Now, let’s talk about the music. Oh, dear God, the music. Most of the time it comes from somebody’s phone and we all know the type of music some people keep on their phones. The awesomeness of the occasional Fokofpolisiekar or eF-eL song is completely eclipsed by the amount of absolute shit in a musical form. While I know that taste differs and “to each his own” and so on and so on, I find there is a line and I hope and pray that the majority of people would agree with me rather than disagree with me. But once more, one tends to ignore the music as the night goes on.
I give the music a 3/10. (THE MUSIC STILL COMES FROM LOCALS PHONES..LOL...BUT HELL ITS CHANGED SINCE CHRIS WROTE THIS BLOG...CHRIS..ITS TIME FOR VISIT AGAIN)
The quality of any good hangout is determined by the type of people who hang out there. Pringle Bay locals are, without a doubt, like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. Now, I’m not saying that in a bad way. Guaranteed to have one of the best, most chilled-out, heaviest parties of your life if you roll with these oaks for just one night. The people are extremely easy-going and they really don’t let much get them down. It’s a small community so obviously all the locals are very tight as well as vacationers who visit on a regular or annual basis.
I give the people a 9/10.
Pretty much the standard for any ordinary bar. You get your beers, your ciders, your spirit and mixes. All at a fair rate. Not much to be said about the drinks that get served there as it doesn’t exactly stand out from other places.
I give the booze a 7/10.
Overall, Head Office Pub is a good place go let loose when you’re in town. I can’t imagine going there too often, however, as I think it can get a bit boring, tedious and redundant. definitely a good spot when you’re on holiday, that’s for sure. So go ahead and check it out if you ever find yourself in Pringle Bay. It’s located in the Drosters Gat Centre (don’t ask, I also don’t know.)
Be sure to check out next month when we’ll check out another Bar of the Month.
