Chelsea Flowers in Stanford 2025

Africa’s Gold Winning Flower Basket

Chelsea Flowers in Stanford is a recreation of South Africa’s internationally acclaimed floral display, fresh from London’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Winning gold for a second year running, the stunning exhibit titled Flora of South Africa, will be the star of the Stanford in Bloom spring festival from 10 to 24 September 2025. The display gives rise to a multitude of habitats ranging from the fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom to the lush subtropical greenery found in KwaZulu-Natal. Chelsea Flowers in Stanford is also your chance to meet its creators, acclaimed landscape designer Leon Kluge, creative artist gardener Tristan Woudberg, and the four incredible Grootbos Ambassadors who brought the vision to life. Botanical art from the Grootbos Florilegium’s collection, educational talks, a pop-up nursery and other festival activities make this one of the season’s not-to-be-missed events. Please note that dogs won’t be allowed entry into the exhibit. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Tickets cost R200 each and are available on Webtickets and at Pick ‘n Pay.

The Exhibit

Chelsea Flowers in Stanford 2025 presents South Africa’s gold award-winning floral exhibition, Flora of South Africa, exactly as it appeared at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London.

The vibrant display journeys from the West Coast and southern tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, through the Cape Floral Kingdom and on to the lush, subtropical east coast regions of KwaZulu-Natal. It captures the rich diversity that defines South Africa’s floral heritage.

A mini-canyon is brought to life with over 25,000 cut stems, live plants and a water feature. The cut flowers rise along cliff edges, giving way to tannin-rich, rooibos tea-coloured waterfalls framed by cliff-dwelling plants. At the heart of this landscape lies a quiet cove, its sandy beach offering a tranquil pause amidst the vibrant display.

This living masterpiece features an impressive variety of flora, including hybrid proteas, flame lilies, pincushions, chincherinchee, Cape primrose, Christmas bells, disa orchids, maidenhair ferns, kol kol, buchu, and sprays of pink ericas, just to name a few.

Experience the magic of seeing Africa’s flower basket in person this spring!

Florilegium Art

Florilegium Art

Chelsea Flowers in Stanford 2025 includes an exciting new art exhibition presented by the Grootbos Florilegium.

This collection celebrates the Cape Floral Kingdom’s unique fynbos plants with fine artworks created by acclaimed botanical artists. Many of the pieces feature birds and insects living in harmony with the plants, painting a richer picture of the region’s ecosystem.

Representatives from the Grootbos Foundation will be on hand to share stories and insights about these plants and wildlife, their role in the environment, and ongoing conservation efforts.

A selection of original artworks and Florilegium books will be on sale.
