Rotary Club of Stanford - January 2024 Newsle...
We appreciate the ongoing support from our community and look forward to continued collaboration for the betterment of Stanford.
In this month's newsletter:
School Support: We continue our commitment to local primary schools, providing essential stationery items as per their wish lists. Special mention to Die Bron, Okkie Smuts, Rural Education (Hoopland Academie), and St Paul’s. We also redirected supplies to Fynbos Academie after the unfortunate closure of Hoopland.
Valentine’s Civvies Day: Spreading love, Okkie Smuts celebrated Valentine’s Day with a Civvies Day, sponsored by Rotary. Koshuis children also experienced their first Civvies Day of 2024, proving that small gestures bring immense joy.
New Swings for the Park: Collaborating with the Municipality and community members, we replaced the swings at Queen Victoria/Moore Street park, ensuring a safe and enjoyable space for all. Gratitude to everyone involved in this uplifting project.
Netball Season Opening Tournament: A friendly netball tournament between Stanford and Gansbaai teams showcased community support. The newly built spectator stands added to the excitement.
Sunset Market and Rotary’s Birthday: Celebrating Rotary’s 119th Birthday at the Sunset Market was a joy. Our raffle hampers, filled with diverse local contributions, add vibrancy to the event. Join us in making a difference!
Acknowledging Our Team: A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated team - Sandy, Truda, Chrissie, Ray, Malcolm, Lana, Sybille, and Flicka. Special thoughts to Ansie, undergoing heart surgery, and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Stephen, currently in the UK, is missed.

This year will see the 13th annual Penguin Plunge in Stanford!
We have a short quieter period during March and April which means we can do some fun things such as plan our last raffle prizes for the season.
For many children who live in shacks with no safe heating at all, winter is not fun.
