All about the Stanford Street Festival on 14 December 2014

THE STANFORD STREET FESTIVAL

Street Festival

  • Opportunity not only to show off all that is best about Village life but a chance to sort out those last minute Christmas presents
  • Queen Victoria Street, Stanford between the junction with Longmarket  and Church streets
  • Municipality has just agreed to close the street
  • Time 10am to 4pm
  • Cars will be able to park in all the side street and in the part of Queen Victoria which stays open Parking Attendants will be on duty
  • Over 70 Stalls 
  • All the normal Shops, Restaurants and Bars will be open
  • Marshalls will be available to help visitors
  • Our Tourism Office, in the centre of the Village will be open to help anybody who has a problem
  • Every visitor will get a programme detailing the days events and timings

Lots for Adults but what about the Children 

Childrens Events

  • Face painting 
  • Street Acrobats
  • Magic Show
  • Pony rides with and without a cart
  • A visit from Father Christmas

Adult Events

They are there for the shopping opportunity and to sample the Stanford hostelries  but we are also having

  • Meet the Author Currently 7 but probably more Chanette Paul / Jamie Kastner / Peter Younghusband
  • Live Music

Stanford Village Wine Route

Local Wine Estates have combined with local Restaurants and Bars to create an internal Village Wine Route where visitors to the Festival will be able to taste the best of what the area has to offer. As a special attraction the Stanford Hotel is offering special promotions based on Cap Classique and Oysters

Unique Event

  • The Stanford Dip Street Race
  • Sponsored by Stanford Spar
  • For Longboards and Skateboards
  • Run in Queen Victoria Street starting at the junction with Church Street and finishing at the junction with Moore Street a distance of around 400 metres
  • Starts at 12 noon and will be finished by 1.30pm finish time will depend on number of entries
  • Each section of the race will be split into age groups under 12 and 12 to 18
  • If we get sufficient entries we will also divide the race into Boys and Girls so come on girls why not give it a go
  • There is R1,000 to be given away as race prizes
  • Helmets compulsory
  • Doctor in attendance
  • We have public liability insurance
  • Race Registration Forms are available through Schools in Stanford,  Hermanus, Caledon, Gansbaai and Napier and at Spar stores
  • Registration Forms are also available from me and I will give my contact details at the end

General

  • Although we have over 50 Stalls there is still lots of room for more. We could manage another 30
  • We would love to run lots of heats of the board races so come on lets get entering
  • And lastly if you want a really good day out for you and the family come along to the Stanford Street Festival at 10am on Sunday 14 December and get yourselves a Taste of Village Life
