The Importance of Regular Veterinary Visits

A long healthy and happy life is all we want for our animal companions. That’s why a preventive health exam is one of the best things you can do for your pet! Just like humans, pets should visit a doctor at least once a year for a checkup.

Pets can’t tell us if something isn’t right with them

You may think you’ll know if your pet is sick, but many pets, especially cats, hide their feelings and hide any signs of anything being abnormal.

Pets age more quickly than people do

Your pet has a faster metabolic rate, faster heart rate and a shorter life span, so their physiology and pathology go a little quicker as well.

What you and your pet can expect at the check-up

An annual physical exam allows your vet to assess how things are going at different stages of your dog or cat’s life. The vet will discuss concerns and answer any questions you may have about vaccinations, diet, exercise, dental care and behavioural problems. Then a thorough check will include temperature, heart and respiratory rate, and body parts for any abnormalities.

Each day veterinarians see pets that have diseases or conditions that could have been prevented or at least prevented from being so debilitating, so take a responsible step to pet health and schedule an appointment with your local vet, here:
