MEN’S MINI CLASSIC 2026

A DAY OF EXCITING BOWLS!

The Men’s Mini Classic was held at L’Agulhas Bowls Club on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

Twelve teams of four players entered the competition, with bowlers travelling from Hermanus, Bredasdorp and Kleinmond to join our local players.

Following breakfast, the teams were drawn using our new Match Planner electronic scoring system before the first round of 14 ends began. After tea, the second round was played on a Strength versus Strength basis, followed by lunch and the final Strength versus Strength round.

The competition was fierce and the margins extremely close. Positions on the scoreboard changed continuously throughout the day, with the winning team finishing on 33 points.

1st Place:

Jantjies Giliomee, Cobus Engelbrecht, Marius Rusch and Christo Taljaard - 33 points

2nd Place:

Jacques Prins, Alan Coetsee, Stefan Byleveld and Reynier Moller - 31 points

3rd Place:

Vic Weston, Riaan Nagel, Kobus Burger and Koos Roux - 31 points

Second and third places were particularly close, with both teams finishing on 31 points. Alan Coetsee’s team secured second place based on their superior net score.

The tournament also had the honour of welcoming former Springbok rugby captain Morné du Plessis, who played in the President’s team and kindly conducted the lucky draws.

A very special thank you goes to our generous sponsor, René Robinson of Struisbaai Harbour Café, who addressed the players and presented the prizes.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Marianne Fourie and her team for the excellent food prepared throughout the day, as well as to everyone who contributed to making the Men’s Mini Classic such a memorable success.

Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to every player who supported the tournament!
