Die Belangrikheid van Gemotiveerde en Betrokke Werknemers

Smith (2024) defines employee engagement as “a human resources (HR) concept that describes the level of enthusiasm and dedication a worker feels toward their job. Engaged employees care about their work and about the performance of the company and feel that their efforts make a difference. An engaged employee is in it for more than a paycheck and may consider their well-being linked to their performance, and thus instrumental to their company's success”.

Ek dink u sal met my saamstem dat “Betrokke Werknemers” nie dieselfde impak het, as die Engelse woorde “Employee Engagement” nie, daarom die Engelse aanhaling. Waarom is dit so belangrik dat ons betrokke werknemers het? Studies het getoon dat gemotiveerde, betrokke werknemers:

• meer produktief is en beter presteer. 

• geneig is om meer in te sit as wat verwag word.

• verlaat nie sommer die werkgewer nie.

• het ‘n positiewe houding wat kliëntediens verbeter.

• is nie afwesig van werk sonder geldige redes nie.

Gemotiveerde, betrokke werknemers dra by tot ‘n gesonder, meer produktiewe werksomgewing. Dit is belangrik dat ‘n werkgewer die tekens van ‘n onbetrokke werknemer sal waarneem en aksie sal neem. Die volgende is gevaartekens:

• Die werknemer woon NET aktiwiteite by wat verpligtend is.

• Die werknemer neem nie deel aan die gesprekke in vergaderings nie, of woon dit nie by nie.

• Roetines verander, die werknemer sal bv. stil wees waar hy/sy altyd spraaksaam was.

• Die werknemer reageer nie op kommunikasie soos eposse nie.

Hoe nou gemaak?

Tree privaat in gesprek met die werknemer, luister aandagtig en met empatie. Wys opregte belangstelling in hul welstand. Bevestig wat hul rol is in die besigheid en hoe hulle bydra tot die sukses daarvan. Beklemtoon die individu se sterkpunte maar bespreek ook die areas wat kan verbeter. Offer uitvoerbare oplossings vir die probleem en bespreek geleenthede vir ontwikkeling. Organiseer aktiwiteite wat kan help om die individu weer met die spanlede te laat bind. Onthou om daarna erkenning te gee aan hul vordering.
