Embargo: Immediate

Date: 01 November 2022

Notice is hereby given that in terms of Section 46 of the Cape Agulhas Water By-law, water restrictions for the Cape Agulhas municipal area are being imposed due to low rainfall and low dam levels which are worsened by extended periods of loadshedding.

The following water restrictions are applicable:

Phase 3 for households and phase 3 for all other consumers (non-residential or not otherwise specified) is retained. The water restrictions are 20kl per household and 50kl per business per month. Any household or business exceeding the restriction will be liable to pay the approved higher tariffs applicable to their usage. Water usage above 20kl per household will result in a 30% surcharge on the applicable tariff and water usage above 50kl per business will result in a 20% surcharge on the applicable tariff per month. Consumers are requested to manage their water usage within the restrictions.

The following prohibitions are imposed:

• No watering of gardens between 07h00 - 18:00 (7am - 6pm).

• No washing of motor vehicles and boats with a running hose.

• No driveways or paving to be hosed off.

These restrictions apply with immediate effect. Consumers are requested to use water sparingly.
