The Old Barn Transformation at De Uijlenes
The Old Barn is one of our most loved venues here at De Uijlenes, tucked away on our working farm just outside Gansbaai.
For those that are a bit 'over it' when it comes to baby showers, the latest thing to hit the maternity scene is the Gender Reveal.
A Gender reveal consists of pregnant parents to be, a cake and some super excited family and friends. Oh, and you need a photographer to capture that look of surprise on everyones faces.
Linda and Stoffel Fourie picked De Uijlenes as the venue for the reveal of baby Fourie's gender. It was a warm day so we set everything up on the stoep of the Old Barn venue.
With a theme of Mostashes or Eyelashes (Stashes or Lashes), and colours of blue, pink and gold the entire affair was a feast for the eyes. Of course the cake was star of the party and was keeping the secret from everyone as the festivities went on throughout the day.
Linda and Stoffel decided to keep thier baby's gender a secret, even from themselves. Their gynae had sealed the gender of their baby in an envelope, which was given to the baker of the cake. When Linda and Stoffel cut into the cake, the gender of baby Fourie was revealed with pink or blue sweets spilling from the center of the cake.
It is a fun new way to have all of your friends and family envolved in the excitement of finding out whether you are expecting a boy or girl.
