21 September 2024: International Coastal Clea...
International Coastal Cleanup Day is a global movement that began over 30 years ago by the Ocean Conservancy.
The winners of the #MarineMonth competition enjoyed a Marine Big 5 trip on Dyer Island Cruises. The competition is run with eco-tourism partners Marine Dynamics and Dyer Island Cruises, together with the support of conservation partners, the Overstrand Municipality and Birdlife Overberg.
Winners from the following schools were on board:
Chester Arendse and Arthur Carelse from the Overstrand Municipality Environmental Management joined the beaming scholars - for some, it was their first whale sighting and many were awed at their size.
The Trust’s educator, Pinkey MaMiya Ngewu, explained more about the Dyer Island ecosystem and after the trip handed each winner a backpack from the Overstrand Municipality and recycled pencil sets donated from DEA (Department of Environmental Affairs) & DP Oceans & Coast department.
Shopping vouchers sponsored by Marine Dynamics were also awarded to the top winners.
Looking forward to next year!
