Gans-Berg News | 5 December 2025 Edition
Here’s a quick look at this week’s highlights, community updates, and important notices happening.
It was tough, scenic and enjoyable - the Danger Point Half Marathon took place on Saturday 30 December 2023.
Arranging a half marathon event is not for the faint hearted, however, Boats van Staden and his Lions Club members did themselves proud. The event had a few challenges with a route change being one of the challenges. This was due to I & J management not allowing entry onto the stretch on their abalone farm. This race has taken place for more than 20 years using this route. Anyway, this did not stop the event, with negotiations and the help of various parties, the route was changed and a very successful event was held. Thank you to Boats and his team.
It was a wet and wind-free morning with good weather conditions for the runners. The new route was tough but enjoyable. The water tables were excellent, traffic officials and volunteer marshals did their task well. One must remember without all the officials, volunteers and organizers such an event cannot take place. Another huge thank you to all who ensured the success of the event.
This race is not a PB course - it is a race to enjoy - absorb the scenery - ending the year knowing that ‘you did it’.
Congratulations to all the runners and a special congratulations to the winner and to winners in their various age categories.
See you all on 31 December 2024.
