Largest mass rally yet in Gansbaai

The 2nd Beach Bash Rally 2025, organised by The Syndicate MC Overberg under leadership of Louis Raats, President, and assisted by his Vice-president, Mark Parry, took place in Gansbaai from Friday to Sunday, 14-16 February 2025. This well-planned event was without any doubt the largest motorcycle mass rally yet in Gansbaai. The Birkenhead Boat Club was the centre of activities on Saturday, with stalls, fun and excitement. Most of the bickers stayed over in Gansbaai Caravan Camp for the weekend.

On Saturday morning the Bickers set off with a mass ride from Gansbaai Harbour through Franskraal en Kleinbaai on their way to Oak Grove in Blompark. Suzanne Hans, Manager of Silwerjare and Oak Grove welcomed the Bickers. She was overwhelmed by their donations to the elderly. “I cannot tell you how much this is being appreciated,” Suzanne said. The entire street in front of Silver Years and Oak Grove was packed with motorcycles of all colours, sizes, and shapes which led to great excitement - nothing like this has ever been seen by them.

During a relaxed conversation with the Gans-Berg News, Louis and Mark shared their plans for the weekend. “We're between 250 - 350 motorcycles from different motorcycle clubs that took part in this weekend's Rally,” Louis said. “The bickers included clubs from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, West Coast and Gansbaai.” They also confirmed that they are planning this year's Rally to be an annual event in Gansbaai. Manny de Bruyn from TMS Builders organised Macs Motorcycle club to join the mass ride. “We are proud that we won several of the prizes, including the prize for the Beste Representative Club,” Manny said.

Before the start of the mass rally, the bickers had already raised about R3 000 to distribute as donations and food for charity organisations and they planned to collect more during the rally. “We were very friendly welcomed in Gansbaai," he said. Like many motorcycle clubs of which the Gans-Berg News have reported on, for these men and women Rallies are not just about the pleasure of touring with the motorcycles. Their primary purpose is charity, and these club members work together as a 'family' and not just friends. “During our visit to Gansbaai, it was also important to support the community and businesses.” Louis concluded that they appreciated the excellent traffic organising by Buks Minnie and his team from the Traffic Department during the mass ride.
