Gans-Berg Nuus / News - 19 June 2026 Edition
The latest edition of Gans-Berg News is out now!
The alleged and arrested murderers of Ricardo Tobias (30) and Eben Olyn (34), both from Blompark, remain in custody without the possibility of bail. Sergeant Abigail Naidoo, Gansbaai SAPS Media Officer, confirmed today (Tuesday, 10 June 2025) that intensive investigations in both cases are still ongoing - one locally and the other by the Anti-Gang Unit. In both cases, blood test results are still awaited to assist with the investigations. Meanwhile, the court is expected to make further decisions.
The gruesome murder of Ricardo Tobias on 24 March 2025 at the corner of Angelier and Bloulelie Streets sent shockwaves through the community. Tobias was brutally murdered by two alleged attackers. A second shockwave struck the community with another murder, just 27 days after the first, on 19 April 2025. The murdered Eben Olyn had been sitting and chatting with a friend outside in his yard. An unknown man approached the deceased from behind and, without any warning, fired several shots at him.
The Gans-Berg News is in close contact with the Detective Department for any further developments in the two murder cases.
