Gans-Berg News - 30 April 2026
The latest edition of Gans-Berg Nuus highlights key local stories, community milestones, and upcoming events in the Overberg.
The Dyer Island Conservation Trust, Marine Dynamics Shark and Whale Tours, Kleinbaai Superette and the Great White House joined hands with Gansbaai Tourism, Cape Nature, Overstrand Municipality, Cape Shark Adventures, Grootbos, and passionate volunteers for a much-needed community clean-up in Masakhane. Together, with many small hands and big hearts, they collected 1,900kg of rubbish in under an hour. That's 1,900kg less pollution threatening our environment and health.
After the clean-up, they shared nearly 1,000 sandwiches made with love, providing warmth and nourishment on this special winter's day. As Wilfred Chivell, CEO of Marine Dynamics and Founder of Dyer Island Conservation Trust, says: “You have to care. Do good. Be kind. Help each other, animals, nature and not just for 67 minutes, but 365 days a year. That's the legacy Madiba left us.”
