I was born on the 15 August 1984 in Secunda Gauteng. My parents temporarily moved to Paarl and finally settled in Gansbaai when I was 5 years old. Since then I have called this beautiful place home, and will do so for the rest of my life. Thanks to the natural beauty and freedom this landscape provides I have been inspired to document my experiences through the photographic lens.
As a youngster my passion lay primarily in rugby. My dreams of becoming a professional player were dashed when I sustained a fatal injury to my knee in 2008. Everything happens for a reason, and while I was heart-broken about not being able to play rugby again, I found photography. Without rugby training I found myself with a lot of free time and being an active person I needed to find something to do with it. Thanks to a cheap camera my mom gave me and a natural talent for taking pictures, my passion for photography quickly grew. I took it upon myself to learn all there is to know and master the art of photography. As my knowledge grew and my pictures gathered some attention I upgraded my equipment and turned photography into a professional passion.
I have a particular interest in nature. Drawing inspiration from the incredible natural surrounds in Gansbaai I have focused my lens on capturing the essential inspiration hidden within a landscape, a wave, a bird’s flight and all things nature. Photography has become a lifestyle and changed the way I see the world. Everything I look at, all my interactions become interpreted as a photograph, a moment to be captured and shared.
