Prioritising Mental Health
This month we’ve been focusing on mental health at the Gansbaai clinic.
• Limited access to affordable and nutritious food.
• High levels of food insecurity, community members experience anxiety and uncertainty about sufficient household food supply.
• High levels of unemployment.
• High food and fuel prices coupled impacted informal settlements.
• Lack of space, fertile soil and knowledge of food gardening.
• Ensure access to nutritional food.
• Children suffering from malnutrition due to parental unemployment and lack of nutritional knowledge need to be addressed.
• impacts of an unhealthy diet and malnutrition were identified as a source of concern.
• Establishing healthy home gardens and training gardens.
• Promotion of a healthy food culture to change present consumption patterns.
• Enhance land and water sustainability to also serve a conservational purpose and implement environmentally friendly production practices.
• Secure multi-stakeholder support and engagement.
• Present annual skills development in agriculture.
1. Agriculture Training, provide skills training, support, expertise, inputs, inspiration, economic opportunities, and food security.
2. Installing Health and Training gardens following organic principles ensuring minimal environmental impact and high nutritional levels. Practices are based on limited space food production with low-cost methods. Support visits, to ensure the longevity of each home garden.
3. Skills Development & Entrepreneurship providing students training and skills development in agriculture and entrepreneurship. Generate a sustainable income and create entrepreneurship opportunities for our students. Experts contracted for the focus areas to ensure the creation of sustainable projects with skilled students and a sustainable community business concept that can thrive.

We held a community workshop at the i-MED Health Centre with the theme Healing Mind, Body, and Garden.
