Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail stingray, Southern Right whales
Summary: A busy day for Slashfin on the water, with the first launch coming from Gansbaai Harbour to adjust for tides. With a scenic drive around the iconic Danger Point, an additional thrill of Southern Right whales surprised guests. On arrival at anchor, today’s sightings of our trusty Bronze whaler sharks were abundant. With their effective camouflage, called countershading, the bait handlers were kept on their toes! Emerging from deeper depths, a Short-tail stingray gracefully made its way towards the bait lines, allowing a sighting of the largest marine species of stingray. Thank you to everyone who joined Marine Dynamics for their shark cage diving adventure today!
