Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Cape fur seal + African penguins
Summary: Our last trip of 2024, and what a way to end the year with a bang! A fresh start meant we were able to be on the water before winds picked up, with calm seas and blue skies awaiting us. Upon arrival at anchor, the Bronze whaler sharks were soon with us and guests eager to join them in the cage. The sharks allowed an up close experience, with multiple mature individuals showing their impressive schooling and predation techniques. The critically endangered African penguins were also spotted swimming in the waters, offering a sight of the residents that inhabit Dyer Island. Thank you to everyone who shared today’s adventure with us, we wish all the best for 2025!
