Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail stingrays + Common dolphins
Summary: Continued low tides for this morning meant that the first trip launched from Gansbaai harbour, leading the vessel around the iconic Danger Point, where guests were surprised with the first wildlife of the day, a pod of Common dolphins. This playful species is well known for its large pod size, displaying behaviours such as breaching and bow riding in the wake of the boat. The continued journey led us to the dive site in the shallows, where the Bronze whaler sharks were sighted throughout the day. Sharks were not the only elasmobranchs seen, with the large and graceful Short-tail stingray also showing interest in the bait lines, topping off the sightings for the day. Thank you to all who joined us on board Slashfin!

Calm before the coming storm!
After a few days of not going out at sea due to bad weather conditions, we are back and ready for what the day will bring.
An early departure to get ahead of the wind picking up during the afternoon, with low swell for the morning.
